Finedoor Supply Screens to Al Fahd- Fujairah U.A.E.

Al Fahd quarry is a large quarrying company operating in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. The quarry processes drilled and blasted Gabbro, a hard and very abrasive stone. It is extracted at the rate of 3 million tonnes per year; crushed and screened into aggregates and transported to the nearby sea port for export to Kuwait.
The original plant was assembled in 1999 and was designed by the Quarry Manager, Mr Essam Salam, who has extensive experience processing Gabbro and producing materials to the high quality required in the U.A.E. It was designed to operate at 400 tph and to produce 3 high quality graded products 0-5mm, 5-10mm and 10-20mm.
Morley based company Finedoor were awarded the contract to supply five screens, a combination of 3 and 4 deck machines, all 6.1m x 1.8m wide. The support structures, chutes and conveyors were manufactured locally with components supplied by Finedoor.
The plant has been in operation since this time, working 16 hours a day, and six days a week operating in a summer ambient temperature of up to 55 deg C. The reliability of the screens has been well proven with only one bearing change being required.
Due to current demand for aggregate in the U.A.E. being at an all time high, and no longer being able to find reliable sources of supply for the additional quantities required by Al Fahd to meet their requirements, has meant that they have now had to invest in a second crushing system.
The new plant is constructed on similar principles to Plant 1, design capacity has however being increased to 600tph. The contract for the new screens on Plant 2 was again awarded to Finedoor who supplied three 7m x 2mm 3-deck and two 8m x 2m 3-deck screens.
As in the original plant the screen support structures and chutes were manufactured locally to designs supplied by Finedoor; all the equipment was assembled and commissioned on schedule in February 2004.
This has been a major success for the Leeds based manufacturer which has again underlined their international credentials in a project where quality and reliability were upheld in the supply and delivery of the screens for the second plant.
