New asphalt screen for Bardon – Duntilland Quarry
Saturday, 10th April 2010

Finedoor recently responded rapidly to an issue with a failing asphalt screen on a mobile plant at Bardon Aggregates Duntilland site adjacent to the M8 motorway in Scotland.

Although scheduled to be replaced within a holiday shutdown period, following a further failure of the screen Finedoor came to the rescue by bringing forward the installation by three weeks.

After a full survey Finedoor supplied a ‘Ritescreen' - 5 x 1.8 metre twin deck vibrating asphalt screen designed specifically for woven wire screen media which was fully tested before despatch.

Constructed of 10mm thick rigid side plates the screen features heavy duty bolted-in decks, 2 self aligning spherical roller bearings with grease lubrication and incorporates an alloy steel shaft for reliability and strength.

On site Finedoor engineers removed the existing screen housing and existing screen and carried out the installation of the screen (at an operating angle of 12°) complete with new motor and drive guard. The existing cabinet was then reinstalled and the screen commissioned.

James Weir - Asphalt Plants Manager, commented, "We had begun to experience significant problems with our existing screen which was disrupting production, however when it suffered a potentially catastrophic failure, Finedoor reacted promptly and brought forward the installation. We were very pleased with their response and appreciative of a first class installation."
